The host needs to load up the single-player save file they wish to start from, then talk to Robin. To start a co-op game select co-op, host a new farm and select the number of starting cabins you want (this equals the number of players), the other instances then select join LAN game, leave the field blank, press ok and join. If players choose to start from a pre-built single-player world, things work a little differently. Stardew Valley has the option for both split-screen local co-op and online multiplayer co-op. Local multiplayer works just the same as online multiplayer, so all the same rules and restrictions apply when playing split-screen. Press start on the additional players’ controllers. These are the basic settings to choose after which the host can make any alterations to the world as per the liking of their party and start the session. Scroll down to Multiplayer and select Start local co-op.

Upon doing this, the host also has to decide how many cabins they want to choose depending on the number of players they have, up to four as specified earlier. Have each extra player press start on the connected controller.

If players choose to start from scratch, the assigned host has to go to the main menu of the game, then select the co-op option and select Host. Multiplayer is an optional game mode in which 14 players can join the same world through split-screen, over LAN, or by IP address.
